Kate Joseph was owner operator of a specialist prime lamb operation at Tyrendarra in South West Victoria turning off approximately 1600 sucker lambs annually. Prior to taking up farming Kate completed a Masters in Agriculture (sheep nutrition) and worked as a beef and sheep extension officer (King Island) and in agricultural education (VCAH Glenormistion). Kate has strong ties within the agricultural industry through her work on several committees and industry Boards and is past President of Sheepmeat Council of Australia. Kate was co-ordinator of the South West Prime Lamb Group (SWPLG) from 1994 when it was first set up until mid 2019. She now manages projects for the group including the dung beetle project with DBEE. The SWPLG are working with DBEE to monitoring what dung beetles are present in their area and hosting on-farm Farmer Nurseries.
