Abstract Note

To study the composition and abundance of dung beetles, sampling was done through light traps for one season at agricultural site in a village Masana in district Kurukshetra of Haryana. A total of 4350 individuals of 22 species from seven genera and four sub-families were collected. When the data were compared with similar studies conducted in and around Kurukshetra, a extreme decline in dung beetles assemblages, composition and community structure was observed in every successive study repeated. Many genera of various sub-families considered under Scarabaeidae like Troginae, Geotrupinae, Dynamopodinae and Orphninae were not found.
