Abstract Note

The male genitalia of 18 species of Eurysternus in Colombia are examined to evaluate the morphological variation of the genus in Colombia among species and species groups. Detailed illustrations of the genital segment, aedeagus, internal sac, basal sclerite, plate sclerite and elongate sclerite provided. We found important variations in the morphological pattern of the aedeagus and sclerites at the species level as well as among species groups. Four types of aedeagus were recognized and basal sclerite and plate sclerite were the most variable structures. Variation in the morphological patterns of the sclerites are maintained in some species groups. © 2016, Universidad Nacional de Colombia. All rights reserved.
