Abstract Note

The cow dung constitutes some little microhabitats inside a greater unity—the pasture land—which are analyzed in the text. A rich and diverse coprophagous fauna—at times very specialized—live in chis microhabitat. This fauna partake actively of the material and energy flux which occurs between the cow dung and the pasture. The dung beetle importance in the maintenance of this flux has been valued and studied by many authors, as well as its contribution to the control of some parasites plagues of domestic cattle. In this work we have realized a shallow revision of the knowledge about this theme, not only for its divulgation, but also in order to make possible new applications in the studies about the improvement of the pasture land in our country.
