Historical and ecological factors determining the geographic distribution of beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae)

An analysis was conducted of the distribution of scarabs in the Americas, Africa and southeast Asia. The community and guild structure of these beetles on each contient was compared with each other as well as those of savannas. Gaps in available information are identified, and a review of the literature in the field (including unpublished data) is included.
