Literature records on dung beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) unharmed by army ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Dorylinae) in Africa are compiled and supplemented by own observations from the Ivory Coast. Possible mechanisms of this coexistence are discussed.
